  • #1 · [Troubleshooting] run TMN ESWC under Vista and Windows 7
  • Many people have the problem that they can't play the old TMNations with Vista as operating system, here are some collected tricks that might help you:

    » Notes
¤ First off I'd suggest to install the "0.1.7.5 to 0.1.7.9"- and the "0.1.7.9 to 0.1.8.0"-patches for TMN (Google is your friend)
¤ I rarely ever use Vista, so if I do a mistake, you can reply to this post and correct it (:
¤ It is a good idea to combine some of the tricks I post beneath!

    • TmNationsESWC_175_setup.exe (265.78 MB)
    • TmNationsESWC_175_to_179_setup.exe (18.31 MB)
    • TmNationsESWC_179_to_180_setup.exe (17.07 MB)

    » Skip the Launcher
Some people had a working game, but it never worked because they kept starting the TmNationsESWCLauncher.exe. To avoid this, just go to your TMN folder and start TmNationsESWC.exe instead.

    » Run TMN with Administrator-Rights
In Vista, even the administrator himself doesn't automatically run executable files with administrator-rights due to security reasons. To achieve this, right-click on the executable file's icon (.exe). In the context-menu, just click on "Run as Administrator".

    » XP-Compatibility
There also is a way to let the program work like it's supposed to do with Windows XP or any other Windows version. Right-click the .exe, select "Properties" in the Context-Menu. In the new Window, click on the Tab "Compatibility" , there you can select the Windows version of your choice. Also make sure to set a tick at "Run this program as an Administrator".

    » StarForce-Patch for Vista/7 Beta
This is the most successful solution from what I've heard. Download it here. Then unzip the archive and start the .exe, this will only take a few seconds. StarForce confirmed their support for the Beta version of the upcoming OS from Microsoft, so this will also work for the Windows 7 Beta !

    » 64-bit Vista: Driver-Issue
People who have 64-bit operating systems don't have it any easier with the fixes. The StarForce Patch posted above is also gonna work on 64-bit Vista, but you will need a little trick to install it properly.
First off, download it from here, just like above. You can also unzip it already. Now we need to deactivate the "Driver Signature Enforcement": Restart your computer and press F8 while it boots. A menu like this will appear. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" and hit enter to boot Vista. You only have to deactivate this once while you install the driver! So once Vista has booted, install the StarForce Patch and it should work now.

    » Remove StarForce-Driver
If you don't want to play TMN ESWC at all or for whatever reason you might have, with this little tool you can get rid of the StarForce-Driver in a few seconds.

    - That's it, I hope it solved the problems from some of you

  • Is it the same for "64-bit Vista" and "64-bit 7" ?

    TimeBreaker says...

What is the rule of this driver ? deactivate it can make computer unsecured ? (sorry for bad english, I hope you understand me...)
